Courage: The Vision to End Segregation, the Guts to Fight For It – presented by the Atlanta History Center Join the Atlanta History Center for the public opening of its newest exhibition, Courage: The Vision to End Segregation, the Guts to Fight for It. This award-winning, groundbreaking exhibition tells the story of Rev. J.A. De Laine and other brave citizens of Clarendon County, South Carolina. Most of these citizens were outside the traditional power structure, without wealth and often had little classroom education. Through photographs, oral histories and key artifacts, this exhibition explores the grassroots community activism that one community initiated to begin the process that ended legal segregation of all races in America’s schools.
