to strengthen the business and technology infrastructure
of metro-Atlanta nonprofit organizations. Volunteers with

assess the needs of nonprofits and assist in the development
and implementation of strategies to meet those needs.

Integration
Agency/Location: Family Health Enterprise, Atlanta
Project Description: The volunteer will convert
data (1,000 records) from a single-table Access database
to an existing and more sophisticated Access database.
This person will evaluate current skills and train staff
members to automate reconciliation of related information
between QuickBooks and Access data. The individual will
be responsible for updating the Project Profile Report
at least once a week in order to keep the client and the
committee informed about how the project is going (goals
accomplished, difficulties, etc.), and will meet with
committee members and/or organization representative when
requested. The volunteer will also participate in the
“Mid-range and Final Evaluation” report.
Skills/Experience: This person must have
MS Access skills to help convert the QuickBook reports
and consolidate the two Access databases.

Project Description: The volunteer will build
an electronic database to help People TV generate support
their mission. Tasks consist of building access or relational
database to help centralize the tracking of donors, volunteers,
mailing list, contact management and overall PR/Marketing
efforts.
Skills/Experience: 2-3 years experience
in relational database expertise. Integrating contact
list with e-newsletters a plus.

Accounting
Consultant
Agency/Location: Metro Atlanta Neurosurgery Foundation,
Atlanta
Project Description: This volunteer will work
with the Executive Director to establish a PC-based accounting
system for MANF using nonprofit accounting principles.
Once the set-up is established, the director or a bookkeeper
can follow the guidelines established. The volunteer will
need to make a recommendation as to what software MANF
should use and then the accountant would use that software
to do the initial setup for them to follow
Skills/Experience: The volunteer for
this position will need to have an understanding of nonprofit
accounting principles. The system the accountant establishes
(how to book revenue and expenses within the context of
a non-profit) will then be followed by MANF staff.

(how many people should serve, how the board should be
structured to accomplish the mission, and how to attract
the right people to ensure MANF’s financial stability).

allow face-to-face follow-up), 10 hours working remotely

Set-up and Maintenance

Project
Description: The volunteer will engage in an
evaluation of the current financial structure, providing
assistance with Excel spreadsheets and installation of
other recommended programs. The individual will also be
responsible for setting up internal controls and organizing
existing files once changes are implemented.
Skills/Experience: The person must be
able to upgrade Finance Executor's (FE's) PC from Windows
98 + Office 97 to newer versions of each and help acquire
and install Office 2003 for FE's laptop, to support existing
Access database and replace older Windows 98 machine in
FHE office. Must have experience with Windows 2000 installation
and general software installation support and swapping
information from PCs.

Project Description: The volunteer will
develop a fund-raising strategy, providing technical and
fundraising assistance to fund a medical trip to Ghana
in early 2007. (The organization would like to raise money
for travel expenses, a container of medical supplies and
administrative fees.) This person will update the Project
Profile Report at least once a week in order to keep the
client and the committee informed about how the project
is going (goals accomplished, difficulties, etc.), will
meet with committee members and/or organization representative
when requested, and will participate in the “Mid-range
and Final Evaluation” report.
Skills/Experience: The immediate need
is to find a person skilled in event planning, direct
mail, and has the time to assist the agency in their current
year-end fund raising plans.
Required

The volunteer graphic artist/copywriter will create a
defined “look and feel” (including brand identity)
for the DeKalb Council for the Arts' new Workplace Giving

Project Description:
The volunteer will develop a computer-based tracking system
for large annual mailing campaigns and donor recognition
using Raiser’s Edge (will also assist Jewish Family
& Career Services staff in using Raiser’s Edge
to its fullest potential). This person will update the
Project Profile Report at least once a week in order to
keep the client and the committee informed about how the
project is going (goals accomplished, difficulties, etc.),
and will meet with committee members and/or organization
representative when requested. The individual will also
participate in the “Mid-range and Final Evaluation”
report. The IT/DB Consultant will work together with a
Marketing Consultant volunteer to make sure the marketing
needs of JF&CS are met.
Skills/Experience: SQL Server/DB Automation
knowledge, datamining experience, direct mail or marketing
efforts a plus

Project Description: The volunteer will
review the existing direct mail format, target audience
data and response ratios for its effectiveness in reaching
the goals of Jewish Family & Career Services. The
Marketing Consultant will also recommend methods of improving
their direct marketing strategy. The Marketing Consultant
volunteer will work together with the IT/DB Consultant
to make sure the needs of JF&CS are met. This individual
will update the Project Profile Report at least once a
week in order to keep the client and the committee informed
about how the project is going (goals accomplished, difficulties,
etc.), will meet with committee members and/or organization
representative when requested, and will participate in
the “Mid-range and Final Evaluation” report.
Skills/Experience: Prior experience in
developing and managing marketing programs including all
aspects of direct mail campaigns

Project Description: The volunteer will
move a local address book to a public drive so that all
staff can make use of the address books that are created
on a local hard drive.

and directories. Integrating contact list with e-newsletters
a plus.

Project Description: The volunteer will
work to improve network and physical security, including
setup of firewall and wireless encryption, Windows group

in a software or telecommunication environment. Project
management experience and excellent problem solving and
analytical skills are a must.

QuickBooks/Accounting
Assistance
Agency/Location: Family Health Enterprise, Atlanta
Project Description:
The volunteer will provide basic QuickBooks training for
the staff of Family Health Enterprises, and will develop
QuickBooks reports from information already in place.
The individual will evaluate the currentQB data, archiving
older records to optimize performance. This person will
assist with the creation of a formal Chart of Accounts
for financial tracking, and will create a budget based
on grant money coming to help generate P/L reports and
Balance Sheets. The volunteer will update the Project
Profile Report at least once a week in order to keep the
client and the committee informed about how the project
is going (goals accomplished, difficulties, etc.), will
meet with committee members and/or organization representative
when requested, and will participate in the “Mid-range
and Final Evaluation” report.
Skills/Experience: This person must have
QuickBooks experience and additional accounting experience
(specifically with chart of accounts, reporting, budgeting
and exporting to flat files).

24 hours total (8 hours onsite, 16 hours off site preparing
Chart of Accounts/training manuals).

Strategic
Planning/Visioning Facilitator
Agency/Location: TellTale Theatre, Marietta
Project Description:
The volunteer will plan a strategic visioning session
with staff, board, current and potential stakeholders,
and current and potential partners. From thissession,
the individual will develop an overall roadmap for the
organization and will help to recruit a board to accomplish
the vision. This individual will update the Project Profile
Report at least once a week in order to keep the client
and the committee informed about how the project is going
(goals accomplished, difficulties, etc.), will meet with
committee members and/or organization representative when
requested, and will participate in the "Mid-range
and Final Evaluation" report.
Skills/Experience: This person needs
to be skilled in group facilitation with a special focus
in visioning/strategic planning. Experience leading non-profit
groups would be a plus. The ability to digest information
from the visioning session, make strategic planning recommendations,
and present in report form is also necessary.
Required Availability (Onsite and Virtual):
30 hours total. 20 hours onsite (one full day for pre-meetings
with staff, one full day for visioning session, half day
to present report and recommendations from visioning session),
10 hours offsite (time to prepare for the visioning session
and time for the post-meeting report).

and Resource of African American Art, Atlanta
Project Description: The volunteer Web Designer
will repair/complete Hammonds House Museum's website,
integrating all necessary components and updating the
Project Profile Report at least once a week in order to
keep the client and the committee informed about how the
project is going (goals accomplished, difficulties, etc.).
This person will meet with committee members and/or organization
representatives when requested, and will participate in
the “Mid-range and Final Evaluation” report.
Skills/Experience: The volunteer must
have web coding experience in PHP/ASP and Javascript,
and should have experience using templates and style sheets
and be familiar with database-driven website design.
Required Availability (Onsite and Virtual): Onsite
for design meetings (2 – 5 hours) and the rest can
be done virtually. Project is not a site redesign
in the strictest sense, and has been estimated at 35 hours
or so of work start to finish. Individual experience will
make a difference in the total number of hours required.

Web Developer
Agency/Location: East Point Community
Action Team, East Point
Project Description:
The volunteer Web Developer will produce an updated web
site for the East Point Community Action Team, incorporating
more information about EP-CAT’s programs. The volunteer
will create a calendar of upcoming events, allowing public
subscriptions for alerts. This person in this position
will be responsible for creating an on-line photo gallery,
implementing a newsletter / email-blast system, including
opt-in and opt-out functionality, allowing for content
push to subscribers from the web site, and finally, this
person will implement a volunteer management system to
allow EP-CAT to publish volunteer opportunities and to
allow potential candidates to respond with interest and
availability.
Skills/Experience: 3-5 years experience
with web design and technologies. Prior experience in
the development of full web sites for small organizations,
based on existing printed materials and requirements from
staff intervies, and overall knowledge of content management
tools and methodologies.
Required Availability (Onsite and Virtual):
8-20 hours onsite, and 40-100 remotely. (The actual time
commitment will be determined during interviews).

Windows System Administrator
Agency/Location: Hearts to Nourish Hope,

Project Description: The volunteer will
evaluate and implement a Microsoft Small Business Server
to centralize file, print, and authentication services
(There is a brand new workstation (Sempron 3200+, 256MB
RAM, 80GB HDD) still in the box and available for use,
after the addition of another 256 or 512 MB of memory).
The volunteer will also clean Lab and staff computers
and evaluate free Web-based groupware (email + scheduling)
such as Google Hosted Domains to coordinate inter-office
communications. The Exchange portion of SmlBiz Server
is overkill for the organization and its IT resources.
Skills/Experience:Strong
Windows desktop and server skills are required. (Relevant
Microsoft certification is a plus). Technical analysis,
conceptual and systematic thinking skills, problem troubleshooting/resolution.
Degree in Computer science, technical disciplines or equivalent
education and hands on experience.
