Thank you for your interest in answering the crisis line for Ahimsa House! Our 24 hour crisis line is available to victims of domestic violence throughout Georgia who are concerned about their pets' safety as well. On the crisis line, we do intake for victims and their pets entering our emergency animal safehouse services program, we provide crisis intervention, assistance with including pets in safety planning and temporary protection orders.
We are looking for both day time and evening crisis line volunteers. Our shift times are flexible and can be done from your home and from your own cell phone (we can forward the line to your phone). We create a calendar of shifts at the beginning of the month that are filled on a first come first serve basis. We do ask that volunteers take at least 2 shifts per month and for a commitment of at least six months upon completion of training. The crisis line is quite unpredictable and may receive multiple calls or no calls at all during a shift, so this does require someone who can be flexible.
Ahimsa House will provide crisis line training to volunteers who pass the screening process.
Thank you again for considering joining our team as a crisis line volunteer! Please contact us if you have any questions, or to get started on the application, visit:
