GED Math Tutors

Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center  Family Literacy program exists to improve literacy and life skills for individuals and families. The program provides support for literacy levels ranging from early child education, adult literacy, to GED preparation. The Family Literacy Program embraces Adult Education, Child Enrichment, PACT (Parent and Child Together) Time and Parent Education, along with personal and family growth workshops.  Admission testing is required for the GED program.

More than GED…… We offer experiences that expand options and opportunities. We help our participants achieve their desired goals….whether it’s obtaining a GED to attend college or technical school, attain a better paying job, being a more effective parent or identifying career options. 
Features of the Family Literacy Program……We are focused on SUCCESS. We seek to eliminate barriers to success by offering a variety of programs and services:

Family Dinner hour - 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday

Parents as Teachers (P.A.T.) 5:30 – 6:00 pm, Tuesday & Thursday

Parent Education and Parenting Skills  

Adult education classes Monday – Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 pm

·         Adult literacy

·         Pre-GED

·         GED

Child Enrichment - developmental & age appropriate learning for children

·         Infants and toddlers (6 months to 3 years)

·         PreK-K  (4 to 6 years)

·         School age   (7 to 12 years)


Special Program and Services

Life Skills

·         Goal setting

·         Financial literacy: budgeting, banking, shopping, couponing & more

·         Continuing education: post-GED education, training and financial aid assistance referral;

·         Survival skills for a Healthy Family……& more


We are seeking adult volunteers to provide middle school and high school level math tutorial. The volunteer will instruct and motivate students in one or more of the following areas: fractions, percentages, measurement, decimals, geometry, algebra and problem solving.  Sessions could be one-on-one or small group (2-4 individuals). 

We are located off  Metropolitan Parkway between Mary and Arthur streets; Bus line from the Westend MARTA station is #95 south.
