Description:
The Warehouse Team will help us take donated soap from hotels and prepare it to be sent to refugee camps and communities affected by poverty around the world. This includes the following tasks:
Sort the soap by the hotel brand from which it is donated
Separate previously unused soap into boxes for shipping; remove wrappers
Take inventory of soap in warehouse; keep track of new donations
Inspect and clean the previously used soap of any hair or other particles; get rid of any bad soap
Move bins of approved soap to the prep area for processing
Cut bars of soap from the reprocessed soap created by the machine
Arrange the new soap in drying racks
Put soap in boxes and move boxes to storage area of warehouse
Organize soap to be shipped
Break down and set up boxes as needed
Help keep the warehouse neat and tidy
As needed, drive to hotels in the metropolitan Atlanta area to pick up donated soap, and/or drive to local grocery stores to pick up donated cardboard boxes
Requirements: Volunteers must sign a waiver to participate. This project may involve some heavy lifting and/or using a blade for cutting soap (only those 18 and over can participate in cutting soap). Make sure you wear clothing that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. The minimum age to help with warehouse work is 12, and to drive is 18. Those driving must show proof of a drivers license and automobile insurance.
