Wylde Center Hawk Hollow
Wednesday August 29 From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Kirkwood- Atlanta)
The Wylde Center actively engages youth, families, and individuals in their environment, health, and community through organized programs, classes, and events that develop creative skills in sustainable urban living, organic gardening, health and nutrition. Hawk Hollow, our native plant restoration site offers many unique opportunities for digging in the dirt. We do everything from mulching to planting to weeding. Because gardening is so seasonally dependent, it is hard for us to predict exactly what we will be doing on each work day, but we can promise you some hard work and getting dirty!
Share a Story with a Child - Reading Buddy Plus Informational Session
Monday August 27 From 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Glenwood Park- Atlanta)
Pajama Program Reading Center/Atlanta is excited to introduce our new Reading Buddy Plus Program. Reading Buddy Plus allows children to meet with the same volunteer once a month for 90 minutes throughout the school year. Our goal is to foster a caring relationship between the child and adult volunteer through consistent interaction. The children are paired with the same volunteer each session for the duration of a school year (October through April). In addition to shared reading, children will spend time journaling and discussing daily topics provided by our Program Manager.
