NAMIWalks North Georgia

JOIN THE MENTAL HEALTH MOVEMENT - We are changing how Georgians view mental illness. We are improving lives and our communities through out Georgia ONE STEP AT A TIME! Please consider volunteering for this extremely important 5K Walk for Mental Health as we raise awareness and funds for NAMI programs! Volunteers will help with setup, check-in, face-painting, runners, photographers, sanitation crew, cheerleaders, course monitors, water station and clean up.
Towers High School Garden Workday
Saturday October 20 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (South DeKalb)
Partners in Action for Healthy Living's mission is to empower South DeKalb residents to make healthy choices that support their best quality of life. Volunteers will install a new learning garden that will benefit the students through hands on learning in the garden. The garden will not only serve as a learning garden but it will create healthier communities by inspiring students, teachers, parents and community members to grow our own food for healthier bodies and to decrease food insecurities.
SoftBall with InCommunity
Saturday, October 20 From 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM (North Fulton)
InCommunity partners to enrich and sustain the lives of individuals who have developmental disabilities, their families, and their communities. A main goal for our group homes is to bring our individuals out into the community to expose them to new experiences and members of their community. Volunteers will support and participate in a softball game with the individuals in the group home.
Discovery Program @ Usher Collier Elementary
Saturday, October 20 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (NW Atlanta)
The Hands On Atlanta Discovery program is a volunteer-led Saturday tutoring and enrichment program. The three-hour session occur twice a month from 9am to 12pm. The program reinforces weekday learning through academic assistance, educational games, field trips, service-learning projects, and other enrichment activities.
Rhodes Race at the Haunted Castle 5k
Saturday October 27 From 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM (Ansley Park, Atlanta)
This dog- and stroller-friendly 5K will wind through the creepy twists and ghoulish hills of one of Atlanta's oldest and boo-tiful neighborhoods, Ansley Park. After the race, help out at the hair-raising after-party at Rhodes Hall for a costume contest, food and prizes. You can even take a tour inside our "haunted castle," and who knows, maybe you'll get a glimpse of our resident apparition. Volunteer tasks include: registration assistance (handle check in, distribute goody bags, etc.), course monitors to ensure safety of the course, start & finish line assistance, course logistics and after party.
