Parklane Elementary Discovery is a Saturday morning tutoring program that offers one-on-one and small group enrichment activities for at-risk children. Volunteers lead activities and help with reading and math skiWe are currently recruiting new volunteers to join us in a variety of roles within the museum as part of our Adult Volunteer group. Volunteering with us is a great way to meet new people while giving valuable time to an important cultural institution in Atlanta. There is a position for every personality and age, with opportunities such as Greeter, Film Attendant, forest restoration volunteer, exhibit facilitator, Animal Care volunteer, and more.

Atlanta Parent Magazines-Family Fest

Easterseals North Georgia is the beneficiary for the Family Festival and needs help with activities in the festival with crafts and activities. Easter Seals strengthens families and children at the times most critical to a child's development. We work with families that are economically challenged, that have children that need extra help in the areas of learning, mental health development, and special needs. We are the states largest "inclusive" early education provider. Volunteers can stay and play after their shift. Volunteers are needed to help with arts & crafts, games and more.

Wednesday, September 25 - Tuesday October 1, Various Shifts (Midtown)

AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run continues to raise much needed funds for AIDS Service Organizations throughout the metro-Atlanta area. These organizations provide essential programs and services for men, women, and children who are infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. All funds stay local in the metro-Atlanta area and have been saving and transforming lives. Volunteers are need before and after the walk to help with sorting supplies, packing, loading, set-up, breaking down and unloading.

Bike Bazaar / Bike in Movie: Hocus Pocus

Thursday, October 3, 2019 From 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM (Buckhead)

Livable Buckhead is turning October into Biketober. To kick it off right, we're going to a have a little Hocus Pocus. Bike (or walk..or even ride MARTA) over to Marie Sims Park as we screen this '90's Halloween classic. We will have food trucks from the The Street Food Coalition. The Grand Bike Bazaar will be a collection of bike-oriented vendors, services, and advocacy organizations popping up to get Buckhead in gear for Biketober. We are in need of a few dedicated volunteers to assist with our event. Volunteers will help with setup, greeting volunteers, directing visitors and assisting with cleanup.

It’s no secret, Atlanta sets the standard for civic engagement, it’s in our DNA. Our history is full of people and organizations who weren’t afraid to stand for making things better; which built the Atlanta we have today. 

So, on Oct. 5 - 12, 2019, we’re rallying the Atlanta community - companies, nonprofits, community partners, events, and our network of changemakers - to help live Atlanta’s legacy. The best part? We want you and 10,000 ATLiens to join in for a week of good!

    • On your stroll down the Beltline’s East Side trail on Saturday, Oct. 5, stop in the Beltline Center and help assemble STEAM kits that will be donated back to students at our partner schools!

This program facilitated provides the opportunity for youth 10 years and older to participate in meaningful activities encouraging conservation, stewardship and experiential learning on the second Saturday of every month (excluding January and July). Volunteer tasks include trail building and maintenance, Invasive Plant Eradication, Habitat Restoration and other activities needed to manage the facility and grounds of this unique urban resource!

Mobile Food Distribution

Thursday, September 19, 2019 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Atlanta, West End)

Southwest Ecumenical Emergency Assistance Center (SWEEAC) provides assistance to southwest Atlanta residents in the form of monthly food distribution. SWEEAC serves more than 48,000 families & distributes over 1,000,000 pounds of food to the families in Atlanta. Volunteers provide the agency with much needed resources that allow the agency to complete their mission in a cost efficient and orderly manner. Volunteer tasks include set up and breakdown of distribution area, unpacking and organizing food to be distributed, bagging or boxing of food for recipients and assist recipients to their vehicle or help them carry food.

Beautiful Bounty: Market Prep Support - Collegetown Farm

Friday, September 20, 2019 From 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Atlanta, West End)

Truly Living Well (TLW) works to engage the community in developing local food systems and demonstrating urban agriculture as a sustainable solution for helping people to eat and live better. It is our mission to grow better communities by connecting people with the land through education and training. Market prep volunteers will be working together to complete market preparation tasks in order to create a beautiful experience for market attendees. Tasks may include: Harvest, weigh, and bundle produce for farmer's markets. Gathering and loading supplies Assist with signage (good penmanship/artistry for chalk signs) Assist with other farm projects as needed.

Buckhead CHaRM Day

Saturday, September 14, 2019 From 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Fairburn)

CHaRM stands for The Center for Hard to Recycle Materials. It is a permanent drop-off facility that aims to improve our environmental health by encouraging reuse and diverting thousands of pounds of household hazardous waste, bulky trash and other hard to recycle items from Metro-Atlanta landfills and water systems. Volunteers are needed to help with the monthly CHaRM drop off day for Buckhead residents. You will assist attendees with their recyables and direct traffic.

2019 Atlanta Meal Pack for 9/11 Day: PROJECT SUPPORT

Wednesday September 11 From 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM and 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM (Downtown)

Hands On Atlanta was selected to support the 9/11 Day of Service for a HUGE 300,000 meal pack project at the College Football Hall of Fame! Atlanta is one of 8 cities being activated, with a total goal of 3,000,000 meals and 12,000+ volunteers. Hands On Atlanta is leading efforts on the ground with operations and logistics, and are in need of task leaders to help pull it off. Tasks will include: Running the registration table, meal pack table captains, heavy lifters to move boxes back and forth, runners, etc.

Open Hand Meal Delivery

Saturday September 14 From 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Lindbergh)

Open Hand helps homebound seniors and others suffering from disability or chronic disease by providing Comprehensive Nutrition Care™(CNC), a combination of nutritious, home-delivered meals, and nutrition education. Open Hand prepares, packages, and delivers 5,000 nutritionally-appropriate meals a day, six days a week with the support of volunteers. Volunteer drivers are a critical part of the service Open Hand provides to the community, since a majority of the organization’s clients are homebound. In fact, a volunteer driver is quite often the only person a client may see on any given day. Volunteers will pick-up meals, deliver meals to clients using their own vehicles and gas, and return the delivery list and delivery bags back to the Open Hand site.

The 5 proven Outcomes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience: Health Relationships, Strong Sense of Self, Positive Values, Challenge Seeking, and Community Problem Solving. Spend a day coming together with Girl Scout Volunteers at our 6th Annual Volunteer Leadership Conference! This team requires a friendly and helpful attitude. Setup volunteers will help us get prepped and ready for this awesome event. Event volunteers will act as session monitors and greeters/ushers throughout the day - help with speakers and hand-outs in workshop sessions, assist in games and prize area and assist attendees in navigating the Infinite Energy Center throughout the day.

Margie’s House Monthly Giveaway

Saturday, September 14, 2019 From 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Fairburn)

Margie’s House mission is to bring food and assistance to the communities around South Fulton. Join us in our monthly food distribution! Food sorters will be responsible for removing food off trucks as well as organizing, sorting, and packing food in bags. Volunteers will ensure the quality of the food, provide the quantity of food to each client as instructed and break down the boxes in which the food was delivered. Other jobs that may be required include taking out trash, assist clients with carrying food to their transportation, set up, break down and clean up.

Discovery is a Saturday morning enrichment program, which offers S.T.E.A.M, fitness, health, and social-emotional learning activities to Atlanta's (K-5) youth while engaging volunteers in meaningful service experiences. Volunteers interact with students in a fun and structured environment and help them gain new skills and visualize brighter futures. Individuals can volunteer as a general volunteer, grade captain, school captain, or session lead.

C3 Ministries’ Food Pantry Distribution

The mission at C3 Ministries is to provide resources of four various ministries in order that families can become whole, independant and ultimately able to return to serve others. Serving over 250 families every Thursday and over 471,508 pounds of food this year, we are greatly impacting our communities and with your help, we can continue to be more successful in making an impact in our community. Give back to your community while having fun and meeting new friends, while re-stocking food shelves, loading boxes with food items and assisting in expediting boxes to attendees vehicles.

Green Market - Connecting communities & supporting local farmers!

Have fun volunteering while enjoying the fresh air, learning about locally grown produce and listening to live music! Green Market volunteers play an important role in supporting healthy lifestyles and encouraging sustainable communities. Our Green Market encourages sustainable communities in the most basic way – by providing shoppers with direct access to local farmers and merchants. Volunteers will primarily assist vendors with unloading their vehicles, general clean-up; market set-up and market break down. Volunteers may also lend a hand at the Green Market Information booth and our Education Garden.

For the 5th consecutive year, Atlanta’s kids and cops will compete on the baseball diamond and lead Atlanta communities in goodwill and fellowship. Its purpose is to create an environment of competition, trust and respect between two communities who often struggle to find common ground and to open lines of communication so often searching for a connection. We are looking for volunteers to volunteer in a unique and unconventional way. We need you to come out and “S.I.T. and Serve” at the Safe at Home Game. S.I.T. stands for Simple, Intentional and Transformative.

Our annual plant sale offers many unique opportunities for digging in the dirt. We do everything from watering to transplanting to weeding.

Arts and Crafts with InCommunity

At InCommunity we partner to enrich and sustain the lives of individuals who have developmental disabilities, their families, and their communities. This volunteer opportunity helps the InCommunity Organization carry out its mission by bringing awareness within the community of the mentally disabled and bringing a sense of normalcy for our individuals that are treated differently. Volunteers will help the Individuals of InCommunity create caterpillars out of construction paper and read books together.

TeamWorks! Kickoff

Saturday August 17 From 9:45 AM - 12:00 PM (NW Atlanta)

Hands On Atlanta TeamWorks! is a program that betters metro-Atlanta through meaningful service projects. It’s a program that affords you the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others and our communities, and to develop friendships with your fellow volunteers along the way. It’s an opportunity to challenge yourself and get involved! Kick-off is an orientation - a chance for volunteers to meet, form teams, and learn about the projects planned for that round. We are switching up this round and adding a mini-service project that will benefit one of our nonprofit partners. For five to six Saturdays after the kick-off, teams compete to have the highest turnout at service projects that impact a variety of causes and communities throughout Greater Atlanta.

Boys and Girls Club at Peachcrest Learning Garden Community Work Day

Saturday August 17 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Decatur)

Partners in Action is installing a learning garden at The Boys and Girls Club at Peachcrest right across the street from Peachcrest Elementary. The garden allows children at the club to learn how to grow food from seed to market and learn leadership skills along the way. We prepare food in their wonderful kitchen and give lessons on nutrition and plant-based food. Join us as we help maintain this great resource that will benefit the students through hands on learning in the garden. Green thumbs not necessary. The garden not only serves as a learning garden but it will create healthier communities by inspiring young people, parents and community members to grow food for healthier bodies and to decrease food insecurity. We will finish the herb garden, remove invasives along the border fence, plant additional pollinator plants and weed the beds if necessary.

Loridans Park - Invasive Species

Loridans Park is one of City of Atlanta's newest parks and is the beginning stages of becoming a valuable greenspace for the community. On August 17th, Livable Buckhead and the North Buckhead Civic Association are teaming up with our friends at Trees Atlanta to lead a community workshop focused on the targeted identification of a variety of common Invasive Plant Species of the Georgia Piedmont region, as well as efficient removal methods of those plants. The main objective of this workshop is to empower the community group to take on invasive plant removal projects in their local greenspace with the auxiliary goal of educating individuals about invasive plants that may be present in their own yards and landscapes. We invite you, your families, neighbors and groups interested in making an impact to attend!

Kate's Club empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling by offering social, recreational and therapeutic activities to help kids wherever they are in their grief journey. Kate’s Club does this through Art Therapists, Play Therapist, Music therapists, Circus artists, song writing, games and much more to help our members express themselves in an emotionally and physically safe environment. Join us on the weekends, helping provide structure and supervision for our afternoon programming. You will provide hands on support, engaging with our kids. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity to see first-hand what we do and how we do it.

Loridans Park - Invasive Species

Loridans Park is one of City of Atlanta's newest parks and is the beginning stages of becoming a valuable greenspace for the community. On August 17th, Livable Buckhead and the North Buckhead Civic Association are teaming up with our friends at Trees Atlanta to lead a community workshop focused on the targeted identification of a variety of common Invasive Plant Species of the Georgia Piedmont region, as well as efficient removal methods of those plants. The main objective of this workshop is to empower the community group to take on invasive plant removal projects in their local greenspace with the auxiliary goal of educating individuals about invasive plants that may be present in their own yards and landscapes. We invite you, your families, neighbors and groups interested in making an impact to attend!

Our family of caregivers greets each day – and each resident – with enthusiasm and compassion, proudly upholding a legacy of offering a healing, home-like atmosphere. Volunteers are integral to the happiness and well-being of our residents. We could not provide the variety of meaningful activities and programs we do without the time and talents of our volunteers. Volunteers will provide a variety of enrichment and therapeutic activities for our residents including BINGO, arts & crafts, holiday projects, games, parties & socials, and group visitations.

2019 Atlanta Meal Pack for 9/11 Day: PROJECT SUPPORT

Wednesday September 11 From 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM and 12:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Hands On Atlanta was selected to support the 9/11 Day of Service for a HUGE 300,000 meal pack project at the College Football Hall of Fame! Atlanta is one of 8 cities being activated, with a total goal of 3,000,000 meals and 12,000+ volunteers. Hands On Atlanta is leading efforts on the ground with operations and logistics, and are in need of task leaders to help pull it off. Tasks will include: Running the registration table, meal pack table captains, heavy lifters to move boxes back and forth, runners, etc.
