Over the years, we’ve learned a thing or two about our community. Y’all love volunteering and will go to great lengths to support our work, y’all care about making Atlanta better for all of our citizens, and y’all most definitely know how to party! Over the course of the Starbucks Service Fellows’ six-month term with us, Julie and Maya, managed 10 food pantries that were selected by the Food Bank. Specifically, the Starbucks Service Fellows providing one-on-one support to the food pantries including training on volunteer management best practices and our volunteer management software; helping them write volunteer role descriptions, and volunteering at their facilities.
Hands On Atlanta was awarded a competitive, national grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to support Hands On Atlanta’s school-based AmeriCorps program.
The masses were out in full force for another big day of impact for the 2019 MLK Day of Service. Numbers are still trickling in, but about 2,000 volunteers served at 32 projects across metro Atlanta. Backed by a huge turnout from all 20 of our corporate sponsors, volunteers rolled up their sleeves and worked on a diverse and impactful series of projects at our partner nonprofits and schools.
